Artists Tom Prichard
Tom’s functional work is created in white stoneware. We create all of our own glazes. Most are fired to cone 5 electric. Tom also produces many “saw dust fired” vessels. Artist Statement “I continue to strive for pottery which is pleasing in both form and finish. Finished pottery should give the owner a sense that what they are holding is unique and a part of the soul of the artist is embedded in the clay and glaze.” Oak Grove Pottery Following his early retirement in May 2003, Judy and Tom spent the next two years constructing their studio and home. In October of 2006, Tom began working with Judy in Oak Grove Pottery full time. His early efforts focused on glaze formulation and glazing while Tom continued to develop new functional pottery designs on the wheel. In addition to traditional glazed pottery, Tom has found a love in “saw dust fired” pottery. This primitive form of pottery results in pottery that is born from smoke and fire. Just as with snowflakes and people, no two will be exactly alike.
